Too often people start out with a networking strategy to grow their network by simply adding more connections. While adding more connections is part of it, when you are looking at adding value rather than just making your network bigger, this approach has to change. To use that worn out business adage, go after the low hanging fruit first. There is more latent value in your existing networkTake a peek.

By Scott Torrance We all know the importance of building a strong, deep network for success in business and yet if we’re honest with ourselves we don’t dedicate enough time to doing it well. We have been talking about the importance of business networking for the 21st century employee. Part of this is growing your network but that raises a number of questions: how big should your network be? How many connections is enough? Is there in fact a limit to the size of your network? We live in hectic times. We all wake up in the morning feeling we didn’t get enough sleep and go toTake a peek.

We throw the word talent around a lot in business, and particularly in the recruitment industry – the continual search for talent, talent shortages, talent wars, and so on. Businesses have always been concerned with motivation – how to move themselves or others to act. The naive intuition that is pervasive in the business world is that people are like rats in a maze; that all people care about is money, and the moment we give people money, we can direct them to work one way or another. We are all guilty, to one degree or another, of this overly simplified viewTake a peek.
